About

I’m Sarah, a freelance writer and Japanese-English translator currently based in London. Contact me here.

Born and raised in the United States, I first found myself in Japan on a study abroad program in the middle of the Saitama countryside in 2003. After a short sojourn to the U.S., Japan once again drew me back for a five-year roller coaster ride in its sprawling capital. There I spent my time roaming the streets looking adventure, interesting characters and the perfect vegetarian curry. As of September 2010 I’ve relocated to London to continue my education and expand my contacts, but am still available for freelance work.

I do various types of jobs under the general umbrellas of writing, translating (Japanese to English), researching and photography. I’ve also worked with journalist and Tokyo Vice author Jake Adelstein on his blog, Japan Subculture Research Center, as well as with ITN Productions on the Channel 4 documentary Japan’s Tsunami: Caught on Camera. For more information on what I can do, take a look at my portfolio.

Please contact me directly for pdf and physical work samples, and my CV.
